Flying Nun

A final note about New Zealand rock music. The Clean’s records came out on Flying Nun in New Zealand, which as far as I can tell is like the Sub-Pop of New Zealand. Flying Nun just/is about to release a 25 year anniversary box set. That’s what I bought from amplifier.co.uk. There its listed for $140 (NZ) which is about $90 in Amurica. I thought it was a bit steep- I’d expect to pay maybe 60 or so for a 4 disc box, but it looks like its really pretty. Like I mentioned, I don’t have to pay the 12% tax on it, and shipping to the US was only around 7 bucks.

Just for the heck of it, I looked it up on Amazon to see what it would have cost had I purchased it through them. Here it is. $180!!!! So I’m basically getting it at half price. I should order like a hundred of these. Better yet, Merge or someone else with NZ ties should distribute it here. I’m sure they could beat that price, and there’s got to be a pretty strong demand here. I mean, maybe not 100 thousand, but I bet… Well okay, maybe not that much. Still though, Amazon is usually significantly cheaper than anything you could find in a store here, so if you did run across that set at like Virgin or something, I bet it would run into $200. Loco. I should buy ten more and sell ’em on eBay.

Last note- please click on the link above that goes to Amazon. Then look at the “Customers who bought items like this also bought…” section, about half way down the page Hilarious! I’m not going to give anything away, but I think its worth the two seconds it will take to load the page.
