World’s Biggest Museum

Have you guys heard of this new Scott Pilgrim movie?…

I’m a fan of the Scott Pilgrim novels, and I’d been looking forward to the sixth book in the series finally coming out.  I had been waiting and waiting, then the movie came out, and I still hadn’t heard when the last book was gonna appear.  As it turns out, that’s because I am a moron and apparently don’t pay very good attention to anything.  The last book came out in June.  So last Thursday I went and bought it.  Hooray!  Then, because I can, I went and read it on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, where I also caught some weirdo foreigner who, while posing for a picture, lost his balance and nearly fell off of one of the large marble steps around the side of said memorial.  (How’s that for a sentence!?!?)

Anyhow, also because I can, I then went to another two three memorials and whatnot, a museum, and Macy’s!  I bought an iced coffee and three new shirts!!!  No pics of the shirts (yet), but, because I can, here are some lame photos of large buildings.

(I should point out that they were setting up the multiple stages and television screens andwhatnot for Glenn Beck’s respectful celebration of the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.  That might be today or tomorrow, maybe.  They’re gonna restore honor to something.  Or something.)

“…and thusly did he complete the third and final kitchen.”

Totally!  I just downloaded a wordpress app for my phone, so I’m gonna try to do some renovo-blogging en route to the airport.  We will see how it works out.

So I started the basement kitchen on Tuesday, after spending far too much time at IKEA doing the design.  In the end, I was really happy with the clean, crisp look IKEA offered, and I think I did a decent job making use of the smallish space.  All the cabinets have cool rack things in them, and the end cabinet with the hidden corner has one of those cool lazy-susanesque pull outs.  Anyhow, to the photos!  I also added photos of some of the painting we did and the bar!

Look, a Rabbit!

Sunday, June 6th, 2010

Rabbits.  Man, what cuties!  A ton of them live in Logan Square (more like Laporidae Square!!- ed.), and I often find myself winning stare-downs with them in the back yard.  The other day I found one that was being particularly brave or stubborn or something, so I took out the ol’ phone and snapped a couple of photos, which I would like to share with the world.  Every single one of these photos is super blurry, so really if you wanna see a picture of a rabbit, you should just click here.

Walkin’ Photos with Lisa

Thursday, April 15th, 2010

I’ve used my cool pet collar camera four times so far, but this is the first time I’m posting the results from the collar-cam that was actually mounted on a dog collar.  The only other time I actually used it on a dog the results weren’t really worth posting, but these turned out okay.  Lisa might be getting adopted tonight, so this could be the last we see of her!

Hanging Out

Wednesday, January 6th, 2010

I’m still pretty amped about this pet camera- I hope one day the pet actually gets to use it.  Tonight I walked over to Matt’s house, stopping for a bottle of wine en route, then came home a bit later. Rather than add captions to what’s basically a worthless pile of blurry, dark photos, I’ll let you just check them out. There are a handful that are worth seeing, though only a handful.

Today’s Errands

Monday, January 4th, 2010

For Christmas, my parents gave me a little digital camera that is designed to be clipped to a dog’s collar and then set to take photos at various intervals.  I haven’t yet tried it out on the dog yet, however I did wear it for this afternoon’s post-vacation supply run.  I wore the camera clipped to the collar on my sweater, so it’s about as close as I could get to my POV.

Duke, Redux

Saturday, September 19th, 2009

Once again, I’m an active member of the local golden retriever rescue posse.  The new guy’s name is Duke, though he’s not nearly as Dukeesque as the last Duke.  He’s about one year old, he’s cute, way too energetic, way too into all my stuff, way too into ripping up paper.  On the plus side, he’s very food motivated, so it’s easy to get him to do stuff and he seems to be learning somewhat quickly, though it’s only been a couple days.  And…  here’s a video:

Ad of the Day

Saturday, July 18th, 2009

It’s a yuckish, muggy, rain-threatening day, and I can’t get the fire started inside the ol’ belly to get up and mow the grass.  Here I am, listening to records REALLY LOUDLY, looking out the window, etc.  I really need to go do some YW, but I thought..  “Hey, I haven’t blogged in awhile!” And yet, I’ve nothing to say.  So I wrote some e-mails to my homies, mostly about the weather and whether we should barbecue today, which is also whether I should do yardwork.  Anyhow, this:

gad

Seriously, what is there in an e-mail about the weather that warrants any of that?  I’m not ready for a baby.  It’s all overcast today, so it’s not like it’s a good day to be inspired to build a solar panel.  Grunge stuff?  I don’t even know.  And right below that, wanna be a goth star?  I don’t get it.  Why are people advertising this stuff?  The last one I’m a little stoked on, actually, cause we did mention barbecue, which usually means sausages and other assorted grossness from the local meateria, though in my case it just means eggplant and mushrooms, etc.  Other than that one, they don’t seem to be targeted at all, and that makes me angry.  Anyhow, I really better get my s2g re: the yard.  But this has been fun, no?
