We’re here now. Pearl and I survived the 19-hour, 1100 mile long drive. We only averaged around 60 miles an hour, but thats including stops at gas stations and for lunch, etc. The readout on the car said that we averaged 65 miles per hour, which sounds about right. I’m a rather slow driver. The flip side of that coin is that I got 34 mpg on the trip, crushing the 29mpg that the EPA or whoever rates my car at. Is it the EPA? I’m not sure.
In related news, I’ve noticed that the videos from the trip aren’t working as well as I might have hoped. I think its a problem with my programming skillz. Probably not any time while I’m on vacation, but I’m looking into posting my cell phone videos to youtube and then posting them. That will take some of the pressure off my site and I think result in the videos loading more quickly and consistently.
Houston has been nice. I’ve been able to sleep quite a bit, which has been fantastic. The weather is in the 40s and 50s, so it feels a tad bit more wintry than the 75 degree mugginess I usually expect, andway more manageable than the -6 thats happening in Chicago. Yuck.
Santiago and I are flying to San Antonio tomorrow. We will only be 4 hours away from you! I wrote to you about it in your xmas card, but I think you left Chicago before it reached you!
So:
Merry Christmas! We miss and love you!
