Next Stop: Floor Refinishing Station

So I’m finally getting the floor refinished! I got a quote last Thursday morning, and I was planning on getting a couple more on Friday, but I was pretty happy with the first quote and wanted to just schedule it and be done with it. Before the dudes come (first thing Friday morning), I have to have all the tiles ripped up. This is all I have left:

That’s pretty good, I think. I stopped using the giant pole I had bene using to scrape up the tiles and am now using a 5-in-1 instead. It’s strange, cause the different types of tile use different glue. The glue on the wood-colored tiles is really weak and comes up easily. The glue on the white tiles is a sonofagun. I think tomorrow I will go to Home Depot and get a torch. Hopefully that will help and not blow up the house. There are some stains in the dining room but hopefully they can get sanded out.

What else needs to be done:

  • Gotta mow the lawn again. I might buy an electric weedwacker. They’ve got battery powered ones that you can just charge in the garage when you’re not using them. That would be sweet.
  • I also have to spray the broad-leaf plant killer again. It’s been two weeks, maybe three, and already the dandelions and other crap have grown back. One plant has frown like 18 inches in three weeks. It’s totally nutso.
  • This isn’t crucial, but I have to figure out a good cord management system for the internet line. I don’t know why I took a picture of this, but I did.
  • After the floors are refinished, I have to buy pieces of wood or whatever to cover the gap between the rooms. All the rooms have different kinds of wood in them. It’s weird. And, since I’m not getting carpeting upstairs, I gotta do something about this. It’s that thing the carpet used to be attached to.
  • The back bedroom used to be a small bedroom and a closet. You can tell cause when I pulled up the carpet and took out all the tile, there was a 2×4 in teh floor. The refinishers are going to come up with a solution to that, but they’re kinda keeping me in the dark. See what I mean? If not, now do you?So that’s pretty much all the news for this weekend. I didn’t really get a whole lot done cause I was at the Touch and Go Records 25th Anniversary at the Hideout Block Party. And I wore my block party shirt, so that was cool.

    It’s looking good! You can always carpet the bedrooms..that way they will be warm and cozy in the winter.
