Well. The Thanksgiving Holiday is slowly coming to a close. It’s a shame, as it’s been a blast. I took Wednesday off, realizing that it might be the least productive day ever, so I’ve had a 5 day weekend. It was really nice not going to work.
Anyhow, Wednesday I went to the grocery store and bought a ton of stuff. Emboldened by my successful experiment with eggplant lasagna, I thought I would replicate that success by creating another ditch sans recipe and take it to Thanksgiving the next day at my sister-in-law’s parents. I did a batch of this ratatouile, and.. well, it was totally gross. Not even kinda tasty. Luckily, i had plenty of extra ingredients, and made another. I altered my recipe substantially and ended up with a pretty decent dish. It had, from top to bottom, eggplant, cheddar cheese, tomato, garlic, cheese, mushroms, cheese, zuchini, cheese, bell peppers, onions, cheese. Pretty awesome. Also very good cold inside of a pita.
Wednesday, the Safes played their annual Pre-Thanksgiving show, which was a blast. Last year they played with Jumpsuit, which was awesome, but this year they played with the Blissters, who are pretty good. Needless to say, I would have preferred Jumpsuit. The Safes had a big show and had a lot of extra players come up for songs, including a handful of their probably 11 or 12 year old cousins.
Thursday was dinner, which was super fun and very delicious. I need to learn how to make sweet potato casserole. No marshmellows, but a good amount of brown sugar. Delicious. We also saw G&Ks new nephews, who are very tiny and fragile looking. Not surprisingly, I didn’t hold them or get too close.
Friday we had a dessert party at my house, which was super fun. Maybe 15 people came over and everyone brought plenty of desserts and drinks. I went and stocked up my liquor cabinet with stuff that I knew certain people would want, so that was cool. Jack Daniels is something i don’t normally drink, but it was a big hit. I’ll have to go buy a gallon of it. I also need vermouth and bitters, cause someone likes Manhattans? I think that was it. anyhow, I’ve got a sweet little spot in my kitchen that is perfect for for storing liquor, so I want it to be filled up. The Seagrams 7 was popular, as was the Jager, and the Kettle One. Anyhow, so that was a learning experience.
The rest of the weekend was pretty chill. I spent a lot of time eating leftovers, only my leftovers were purely dessert I still have a huge stock of brownies, cookies, tubby bars, pumpkin bars, pumpkin pie, and cheesecake. This ain’t the week to start getting in shape.
Anyhow, today I went to the bookstore and stocked up for a couple days. Wodehouse, Bukowski (x2), Updike, Flaubert, Cummings, and then a non-fiction(!) book about literary theory. I always feel like I didn’t get enough theory/philosophy in college, so maybe I can make up for it now.
So yeah. I am thinking about getting a domain for myself.. just cause.. I don’t know. That seems like it would be a good idea and a fun project. I cant decide if it should be my first and last name, or first and middle name, or something else entirely. But I think I need one. Plus.. I haven’t made a website in awhile. So we’ll see.
